How it works

How a feedback request works

  1. Ask a colleague

Choose who the feedback is about — yourself, or someone below you — pick the colleague to ask, and add a note if it helps. They hear about it by email, or in Slack if your organisation has chosen it.

  2. They answer two questions

The request waits on their dashboard with its due date. They write what the person has done well and where they can grow, can save a draft, and are reminded as the date nears.

  3. The answer comes back

A manager who asked about someone on their team reads the answer as soon as it is submitted. Feedback about yourself — asked for or written unprompted by a colleague — reaches you if your organisation lets people read feedback about themselves.

Permissions

Who does what

Employees
Ask colleagues for feedback about themselves when the organisation allows it, answer the requests sent to them, and give unprompted feedback if it is switched on.
Managers
Ask for feedback about anyone below them in the reporting line, and read what has been written about those people.
Admins
Set the organisation's feedback rules: how long colleagues have to answer, whether requests close at the deadline, and whether people may ask about themselves, read feedback about themselves, or give it unprompted.

Good to know

The details

A window to answer
Every request gets a due date from the organisation's response window. Requests can close when it passes, or stay open for late answers — the organisation decides.
One reminder, not a stream
A colleague who has not answered gets a single reminder — by email, or in Slack if your organisation uses it — shortly before the request is due.
Reading about yourself is a setting
Organisations decide whether people can read feedback written about them. When that is off, it is off everywhere in the app — even for feedback someone asked for about themselves.
No duplicate asks
You cannot send a second request to the same colleague about the same person while the first one is still waiting for an answer.

FAQ

Common questions

Is this 360-degree feedback?

Not in the formal sense: there is no review cycle that gathers scores from every direction at once. You ask the people who work with someone, one request per colleague, whenever it is useful, and each answer is written feedback rather than a score.

Can people give feedback without being asked?

Yes, once an admin switches it on. Unprompted feedback uses the same two questions and is always about a colleague, never about yourself.

What does a colleague write when asked for feedback?

Two answers: what the person has done well, and where they can grow. Both are free text with basic formatting such as bold, lists and code.

What happens if a colleague misses the due date?

If requests close at the deadline, the request expires and can no longer be answered. If the organisation keeps them open, the colleague can still submit afterwards.

Who can be asked to give feedback?

Any active member of the organisation, apart from you and the person the feedback is about.

Is feedback anonymous?

No. Feedback always shows who wrote it and when it was submitted, so it can be followed up in a conversation.
